The Colombian Network for the Internationalization of Higher Education -RCI- (by its Spanish acronym), is an inter-institutional alliance that promotes internationalization processes in its member institutions, and fosters cooperation among them, and of them with the rest of the world.

The Network is comprised by Higher Education Institutions affiliated with and not affiliated with the Colombian Association of Universities -ASCUN-, and by other organizations that consider internationalization as a key element in their work and that have the necessary mechanisms to manage it.


The RCI is a supportive, inclusive and diverse network that promotes and facilitates scenarios, actions and cooperation projects that contribute to strengthening of the internationalization of higher education in Colombia, improving the quality of the member institutions and deepening their national and international relations.


The RCI will be a national and regional model due to its ability to innovate, include and generate network products, which contributes to the internationalization of higher education in the country.


  • Leadership: The RCI is an active Network that develops relevant and impact initiatives for the benefit of its member institutions and the country’s higher education system.
  • Solidarity: The RCI promotes the relationship between peers and the exchange of knowledge, resources, and practices among diverse institutions.
  • Inclusion: The RCI welcomes without distinction HEIs that consider internationalization as a key element in their work and that have a scheme to manage it.
  • Diversity: RCI promotes dialogue and collaborative work between diverse actors.
  • Participation: The RCI encourages the individual and group contribution of its members to strengthen the Network and the proper development of the projects it promotes.


  1. To promote the culture of internationalization of higher education in all its manifestations and its transversal nature in the missionary functions of HEIs.
  2. To consolidate cooperation alliances between RCI members and of them with strategic actors, for the development of projects that contribute to the mission of the Network and benefit its member HEIs.
  3. To strengthen the articulations of the Colombia’s regions from national projects, which integrate and generate value for the participating Superior Education Institutions.
  4. To develop learning communities in the internationalization of higher education.
  5. To support the formulation and implementation of public policy for the internationalization of higher education.
